# How to Make It:

01 - Heat 1 tablespoon olive oil in a large pot or Dutch oven over medium heat. Add diced onion and red bell pepper; sauté for 4–5 minutes until softened and translucent.
02 - Stir in minced garlic and chopped jalapeño; cook for 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn the garlic.
03 - Add lean ground turkey to the pot. Cook, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until browned and completely cooked through, approximately 5–7 minutes.
04 - Sprinkle chili powder, ground cumin, smoked paprika, dried oregano, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper over the meat mixture. Stir thoroughly to evenly coat all ingredients.
05 - Add tomato paste and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly to deepen the flavor and caramelize the sugars.
06 - Pour in diced tomatoes with their juices, drained black beans, kidney beans, and chicken broth. Stir well to combine all ingredients.
07 - Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Reduce heat to low, partially cover, and cook for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
08 - Taste the chili and adjust salt, pepper, or spice level as desired. Serve hot with your choice of optional toppings.

# Additional Tips::

01 -
  • The turkey base keeps it lighter than traditional beef chili while still delivering serious protein and satisfaction
  • Everything cooks in one pot, meaning minimal cleanup and maximum flavor development
02 -
  • The longer you let it simmer the better it tastes so do not rush that 30 minute cook time
  • Tomato paste needs a full minute of cooking to lose its metallic raw flavor
03 -
  • Partially mashing about a cup of the beans creates a creamier texture without any extra work
  • Letting the chili rest off the heat for 10 minutes before serving helps the flavors settle
